FMCSA Sticks to Sweatshop Rules
The federal government should reconsider a seriously flawed regulation that can compel professional truck drivers to work and drive 19th century sweatshop hours, four major safety organizations said. The groups – Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety, Public Citizen, the Truck Safety Coalition and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters – filed a petition for reconsideration with the administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

FedEx Cuts Wages & Retirement Compensation
FedEx Corp. [NYSE: FDX] announced drastic cuts in pay and deferred compensation for most of its U.S. workforce. Salaried U.S. FedEx employees will take permanent 5 percent to 10 percent base salary reductions while FedEx founder, Chief Executive and Chairman Fred Smith will take a permanent 20 percent reduction in base salary.

YRCW's Job Security Plan
A sixteen page report titled; Memorandum Of Understanding On The Proposed Wage Reduction, was obtained by the Road Drivers Weekly News that outlines the proposed wage reduction of International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) employees and all non bargaining unit employees (including management).

Labor Day Axe Falls Again
Mass termination of Consolidated Freightways employees occurred during the Labor Day weekend in 2002. However during this years holiday event, an estimated 800 employees of Yellow/Roadway were handed their pink slips in style.

Marshall Law for Crime Ridden Town?
City council members unanimously approved a "Curfew Plan of Action” for the city of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas.

Indochina 2008
The non existence of organized transportation and logistics.
With the exception of the old Schneider cab-overs hauling 48 foot sea containers on flatbed trailers, organized transportation is non existent in the city of Vung Tau. An industrial region three hours south of Saigon in Vietnam. It was ironic at first to see the old equipment that certainly had over three million miles on them for sure. But they were clean and polished. If one looked hard enough, the sun faded outline of the old Schneider emblems could be seen.
