| Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks,
a whistleblower website, remains underground in fear that the U.S. will
detain him or worse. Assange is preparing to release a leaked video of a
U.S. air strike in Afghanistan that is said to be more shocking than the
Iraqi video that sent its controversial leader into hiding. It has been
reported that more than 100 civilians, mostly children, were slaughtered
in the coming video. |
| Assange is a direct threat to the Pentagon
and the operations of other US Government agencies. Assange is without a
doubt a targeted man. One should check with the odds-makers what his
chance of survival is. Assange, who first gained notoriety as a computer
hacker, is as secretive as his website and has no permanent home. |
| The pentagon announced it wished to talk
with Assange, but this drove him further underground. If Assange can make
it safely to Iceland ( It is becoming an offshore safe haven for
whistleblowers and journalists.) he has a secure area to work from on his WikiLeaks
website. He will then be able to work unimpeded. |
| The British newspaper The Telegraph
claimed
that the site Wikileaks had a copy of a video from the attack in April.
"The clip will show previously classified footage from US warplanes
that had been tapped to bomb Taliban positions in Farah province,
Afghanistan last year," the paper said. "The Afghan government
said at the time that the strikes by F-18 and B1 planes near Garani killed
147 civilians." |
| Bio: October 1991 Assange, then a
teenager, was charged with 30 computer hacking offences. He was placed on
a good behavior bond and ordered to pay a $2100. fine. Now, Julian Assange is an Australian
journalist, programmer, and Internet activist, best known for his
involvement in Wikileaks, a whistleblower website. He is an
outspoken media spokesman and advisory board member of the
Sweden-based Wikileaks, helping to publish anonymous submissions and leak
sensitive documents from governments and other organizations to the
public. He has been featured on numerous news agencies, including Al
Jazeera English, CNN, and MSNBC. |
